This month in science: Circadian clocks, the history of climate change, Beltran wins a Packard Fellowship, Giving Day 2021, job opportunities, and more...
A team of scientists has reconstituted the circadian clock of cyanobacteria in a test tube, enabling them to study rhythmic interactions of the clock proteins in real time and understand how these interactions enable the clock to exert control over gene expression.
In just over a year, UCSC’s Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells has received four awards to fund training programs that emphasize DEI. Grants from the NIH and Genentech Foundation prepare postdocs for careers in academia while providing mentorship for students at CSUMB, a DDI grant supports the recruitment and retention of underrepresented biomedicine graduate students, and a recent grant from CIRM supports graduate student and postdoc training.
The Science Division has 30 projects for Giving Day, November 3. Find your passion and propel it forward by making a gift. Learn more about how you can contribute at givingday.ucsc.edu.
